This summer comes to a close, leaving me with new artwork and a new
son. My first son; and with him comes new emotions that I have only
begun to understand.
The results of this year's crop of art are terrifying and beautiful and
demand to be seen. I am pressured by a need of commentary as much
as by a need to comment on the world. I find that my works are not new in
relation to current events but a continuation of theme and purpose in the
same vain as I have presented before. However now I see and
understand with a clarity that speaks coherently in the running
commentary of my mind. Yet at the end of the day when I sit before my
computer my desire to speak eludes my ability to convey into words.
What more can I say when I have created an image and the clarity exist
right before the eye?
Perhaps the making of images short-circuits the need to write. But I will
write this broad out line.
It is the story of sex war and religion.
It is a story about being human, and being of a kind of human.
It is a story where life is precarious and uncertain
And mysteries of life and death are played out on a stage completely
caged within our minds and as vast as the universe. This story is the
oldest one we humans know of. And perhaps it is simply the story of good
vs. evil. Where good survives and evil destroys.
This summer I find myself submerged in evil and it is not a good thing.
There is of course my son and that is good.
